Alright. Well, then I'll get into the specifics of the story.

[A sip of tea.]

Five hundred thousand years ago, essentially, is where it starts. Earth was around, but it was different than now, from what I know. No nations or anything. It was ruled over by a prince, and each other planet in the solar system had life as well. As well as Earth's moon. It was called the Silver Millennium, and the other planets and the moon were united under the leadership of the Moon Kingdom's queen, a wise and powerful woman named Serenity. This kingdom's people were magical, and immortal. And they largely kept their distance from the people of Earth, who were younger and not quite so long lived.

[She's aware this might sound a bit like a fairy tale. That's why she's telling it this way.]

[HE DOESN'T CARE IT SOUNDS ROMANTIC AND AWESOME.

England is settled back in his seat with his own cuppa, already getting into the story as Rei describes. he is so into stuff like this, so to think it actually happened in this girl's world is incredible]

[She goes on then...]

Each planet had it's own princess. And...eventually, those princesses were all sent to stay on the moon to be guardians for Princess Serenity, the daughter of the queen. They all became close, and assignments were divvied up by strength. Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter all stayed with the Moon, while Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Pluto stayed on the edge of the Solar System to guard from outside threats.

For a long, long time, it was a paradise, and all the princesses became close friends, some even more so. But that, as with all stories...didn't last.

[he figured it didn't. but before Rei continues, he has a question]

If the princess guardians had their own planets to rule over, why were they chosen to protect the Moon Princess? Didn't she have royal bodyguards?

The Princess was lonely. And the other guardians were her royal bodyguards. They all worked together as a unit of five anyway, supporting one another. And the princess was...notoriously troublesome.

[a thoughtful noise]

So she needed other princesses to look after her? Seems a little counter-productive, if you ask me. [a sip of tea]

We all said the same thing.

[Bombshell!]

[huh. it didn't sound as though Rei has a definite answer for his question either, so England nods and gestures with his hand for her to continue the story. he doesn't want to derail her, and thinks there are probably other, more important things to hear]

I guess...the next part of the story is more about the moon princess. One day, she decided to visit the Earth, and while there she met the prince of it all, Endymion. Endymion and Serenity fell in love, and began to see one another, attempting to find some unity between Earth and the goddesses on the moon.

[oh, here it was! the romantic part!]

You said the queen's name was Serenity... So the princess and queen had the same name? [not that that was uncommon. how many Queen Elizabeths were there? how many kings passed on their names to their sons? were he any lesser man, he might have done the whole chinhands thing. but England is proper! he sits up straight, attentive]

That's correct. Both named for the Sea of Serenity on the moon. That would be where the palace is located, too, in case you were wondering.

[She'll wait and see if he has any further questions before going on, since he so obviously perked up at the mention of romance.]

England nods as the light bulb goes on in his head] Mare Serenitatis... I see. [the name Endymion is familiar to him, too. from Greek mythology, wasn't it?]

That's right.

[She smiles sadly.]

And it wasn't to last. There was a threat. A demon that lived in the sun, a monster called Metallia. It sought to gain control over the solar system, and did so by using magic to manipulate a human woman named Beryl. Beryl drew on dark magic to corrupt the Four Heavenly Kings and humanity at large...and stormed the Moon Kingdom.

[A swallow, a beat, as memories flood back.]

Endymion was slain, and in her grief, the princess took her own life. The guardians fought on, managing to repel the attack for a time, and seal Metallia away for a time. But the damage was too great. Using her power, the Queen took the guardians spirits, along with the princess...and cast them ahead to be reincarnated in a future time. Another place...on Earth...

[he thinks he is following where this is going. England's eyes are sad. while he thinks the story is cool, he also acknowledges the tragedy. to Rei, this story was very real. it was her memory!]

You're. One of those reincarnated people...

[She dips her head in acknowledgement.]

Princess Mars, the Goddess of Flame and War.

Princess... [not just a princess of a nation, but of a whole planet!]

Yes. Princess. Though, of a kingdom long forgotten.

[he remembers that they talked a little bit about it before, how she was the guardian of Mars. hm. his voice becomes quieter when he asks the question]

So... In your other form... Is that what I should call you? Mars?

Yes, that is. It's...safer that way, because Mars is there to protect my identity, and the other princesses.

[England nods. he's already assured Rei that he would keep her secret, and he meant it]

What happened next? How did you find out you were reincarnated?

Well, I found out when I met two of the others. They found me at the same time as one of our enemies. A man named Jadeite. When he confronted the other two, something in me just snapped and I realized I had power. I'd always had strange abilities, but this was something more.

I...killed Jadeite in the conflict, and...after that I just started working with the other Sailor Guardians. Not long after, we found out more and learned about our past lives. That was all...oh...three years ago?

[Rei is... a baby super hero! that's sweet!]

Only three years! Your life must have become exciting in that time. [aaaand here comes their food. perfect]

[Oh good! Food! Once that's settled and the servers are gone...]

Only three years, yes. I mean, I have memories of the Silver Millennium now, but...yes, I've been active for three years.

[Baby superhero indeed.]

There's been a lot of trouble, but I think that we've managed to basically deal with everything. Beryl and her Dark Kingdom, the demon in the sun, and all the rest. Things should finally settle down for another few years. [When Usagi takes the throne of the Earth.]

What will happen now that you're here? [he is going to start with the old standby, fish and chips. the fish looks good, crispy outside, white and flaky and moist inside...] How will you be able to protect earth?

[And she went with the same, having a taste for fried fish.]

There's no need to, anymore. [Rei's smile is a bit brighter.] We defeated the source of all our troubles, once and for all. It's gone, and all that's left is for Sailor Moon...the reincarnation of Serenity, to ascend to the throne of Earth with Endymion at her side. We know that happens, as we've actually visited our own future.
